Overview
Bring together the world-acclaimed expertise of Michigan State University's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the "close to home" convenience of an outstanding community college Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City. The Applied Plant Science program prepares graduates for a wide range of employment and career choices. Each student receives personal, one-on-one help selecting her/his program of study (including workplace internship) with degree and certificate options in: Commercial Horticulture Operations, Landscape and Nursery, or Commercial Turfgrass Operations. Courses are scheduled during evenings and some weekends convenient for many working adult learners. Need-based tuition assistance is available. The Commercial Turf Operations option offers a large number of opportunities for employment and career advancement in the "green" industry including commercial turf care, resort properties, grounds management, golf and winter sports facilities, and other related fields.
