  • Overview
The Educational Technology Certificate Program is designed to meet the professional development needs of educators, primarily in the K-12 setting, who seek to utilize new technologies in their schools and classrooms. Participants have the opportunity to improve their own skills in the use of technology, including the World Wide Web, and develop approaches for teaching others using technology.

These are the first three courses for the State of Michigan Educational Technology – NP Endorsement. This new endorsement program prepares teachers to utilize technology resources for their own teaching and for student learning in classes for which they hold other endorsements. Teachers receiving the endorsement must currently hold a State of Michigan teaching certificate. NP endorsement grantees will be well-prepared to teach introductory computer-related classes for which no specific endorsement is needed such as Computers, Computer Literacy, Keyboarding, Word Processing, Computer Applications, Web Design, and Introduction to the Internet.

We are proud to offer so many choices for busy educators. Whether you opt for the face to face classes that run during the school year and in the summer at school districts across the state or the online courses that offer more flexibility, we have an option that works for you. Below you will find a description of each of the options that we offer. Read through each of these carefully to determine which format would work best for you.

    Traditional Face to Face Courses:
Our traditional face to face courses are usually offered on Friday evenings from 4:30pm-10pm and on Saturdays from 8:30am-4:30pm. Each course meets for three weekends over a period of approximately nine weeks, and the entire program can be completed in nine months. All materials can be accessed online and are covered by the instructor during the weekend sessions.

Accelerated Summer Face to Face Courses:
In the summer our face to face courses are offered in two different accelerated schedules: back to back classes every weekend or in one block that runs for approximately 4 1/2 weeks. The back to back classes start in early to mid May and run every weekend except holiday weekends so that you can start 810 in May and finish 812 by late July or early August. These classes will meet on Friday evening and all day Saturday or, at some sites, Thursday evening and all day Friday.

Our blocked or cohort accelerated courses are generally offered in the summer starting in the middle of June and running for approximately 4 1/2 weeks. The courses meet Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm.

    Hybrid/Online Courses:
Our hybrid/online courses are offered throughout the year. Each 3 credit course is 8 weeks in length with each course following consecutively after the other. This is an accelerated format in comparison to most 3 credit university courses that run for 15 weeks.

It is the responsibility of each student to be aware of and understand university regulations as published.
