Availability
Overview
Taught on campus and in the Detroit area, MSU’s Master of Arts Program in Public Relations is designed to prepare students for positions in public relations management with coursework integrating advertising, public relations, sales promotion, and direct marketing. The curriculum combines core courses that emphasize fundamental knowledge and skills with a series of approved electives that extend the base of knowledge to a specific application. Students are exposed to practical industry problems and situations in several different classroom teaching settings, from case analysis to research laboratories. They benefit from work with an academic faculty rich in professional experience, who have constant interaction with industry professionals; from exposure to practical industry problems and situations; and from the convenience of the location in the Metro Detroit Area.

Students are encouraged to begin study in the fall semester (beginning in late August). If collateral (prerequisite) courses are required, students may begin in the spring (January) or summer (May) semesters.

Over the years, graduates from the Advertising and Public Relations Programs have been recognized and acclaimed for their intensive professional training. As one of the oldest professional programs in this field, MSU’s curriculum has emphasized a strong base of fundamental management and research skills, while at the same time evolving to anticipate the needs of a changing business environment.
