  • Overview
The Master of Arts in Educational Technology prepares teachers, administrators, and other educational professionals for the thoughtful use of technologies to support teaching and learning in a range of educational environments. The program draws on current theories of learning and development to understand the role of technology in the learning and instruction. Students focus their studies in one of two emphasis areas:

    (available on-line, on-campus, and off-campus)
Teaching with Technology in School Settings: This emphasis area is intended primarily for teachers interested in the use of technology to deepen student understanding of subject matter and enhance student problem-solving ability. This emphasis will give practicing teachers in the State of Michigan the Educational Technology – NP Endorsement for their Michigan Teaching Certificate. This new endorsement program prepares teachers to utilize technology resources for their own teaching and for student learning in classes for which they hold other endorsements. Teachers receiving the endorsement must currently hold a State of Michigan teaching certificate. NP endorsement grantees will be well-prepared to teach introductory computer-related classes for which no specific endorsement is needed such as Computers, Computer Literacy, Keyboarding, Word Processing, Computer Applications, Web Design, and Introduction to the Internet.

    (Available on-campus only)
Learning, design and Technology: This emphasis area is intended for educational professionals interested in the design and evaluation of technology-rich-on-line and desktop learning environments, including web-based and other multimedia tools.
