Overview
Michigan State University’s School of Criminal Justice is the oldest continuous degree granting program in the country and one of the most respected in the world. Its graduates have gone on to distinguished careers in public law enforcement, security, and other areas of the criminal justice system. Graduates join elite global alumni, many of whom are leaders within their chosen field. To maintain its leadership role, in 1998 the School placed its Master of Science in Criminal Justice on the Internet. This brought its distinguished academic program to students’ personal computers and provided advanced educational opportunities to practitioners, which were never before available. This is the first online degree program to be offered by MSU and in December 1999, the first group of students graduated from this program.
The program is designed to add new dimensions to the skills of career people in various areas of criminal justice and security. A number of online support services are available to assist students as they progress through the program. There are two focus areas offered for students seeking a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice via the Internet: Security Management and International. Admissions to the on-line Criminal Justice Masters program is governed by the same high standards and criteria adopted for the on-campus admissions. For the official program description, visit the School of Criminal Justice section of Academic Programs. It is the responsibility of each student to be aware of and understand university regulations as published. To review the complete approved description of this program as well as academic policies and student rights and responsibilities, visit the Michigan State University Academic Programs site.
